Brigitte has dedicated her life in Little Cayman to caring for sick and injured birds.
The booby, which had a wing injury, had been treated on Grand Cayman as part of the National Trust’s Wildlife Rescue Programme.
After being dealt with by Dr. Brenda Bush the bird was placed with Trust volunteer Teresa Strad for rehabilitation and then flown back to Little Cayman, courtesy of Cayman Airways.
The bird had been treated along with another booby but when the second one was released from its box it was unable to fly.
‘The one which flew away I named Booby Feisty but the other one, named Booby April, wasn’t able to fly, so she has been sent back to Grand Cayman for further treatment,’ said Brigitte.
‘Booby Feisty flew straight away; she must have sensed that she was home.’
The boobies suffered fractured wings after being attacked by Frigate birds.
