Gun fired in fracas

A gun was fired during a fracas between two groups of youths outside Alissta Towers on North Sound Road, George Town on Sunday night.

And police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened at 9.15pm.

The RCIP said that the fracas led to a dark skinned male pulling out a handgun and firing a shot in the air.

Police are urgently trying to trace the people involved and the driver and occupants a silver Honda Civic, two-door hatchback observed at the scene.

‘The illegal discharge of a firearm is a very serious offence and will no doubt lead to a substantial prison sentence when the offender is caught,’ said police Commissioner Stuart Kernohan.

‘The Drugs and Serious Task Force are on the case,’ he added.

Witnesses to the incident are urged to contact the police at George Town police station, where the incident room is in operation, or call 911 or Crime Stoppers on 800-8477.
