Police will crack down on illegal drinking sessions over the holiday season.
Deputy Commissioner Anthony Ennis issued the warning at the RCIP’s monthly press briefing led by Commissioner Stuart Kernohan Monday.
Because there would be no extension of drinking hours on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, some people might be considering setting up illegal drinking sessions, Mr. Ennis told the briefing.
He said some people might try to charge a gate price that includes alcohol, but the police would not allow them to try and get around the law like that.
Mr. Ennis said the RCIP would be out and about, cracking down on such people from the moment they decided to set up.
Chief Superintendent Derek Haynes was in charge of putting together an operational plan for the holiday season, Mr. Ennis said.
