This holiday season Digicel helped spread lots of Christmas joy to the children at the NCVO foster home during their Christmas party.
Held last week, the afternoon’s festivities began with a visit from Santa – to the children’s surprise and utter delight. Santa made the special visit to deliver gifts to the children courtesy of Digicel staff members.
To add a splash of holiday spirit to the party, the children entertained guests with performances of various songs and poems. Shortly afterward, children and guests gathered around to enjoy a feast of a Christmas dinner prepared by NCVO foster parent Trevor Blake.
In addition to funding the Christmas party and dinner, Digicel also presented the foster home with a monetary donation to be used to renovate the facility’s games room since the original location was destroyed during Hurricane Ivan.
Plans for the new games room include dividing the space into areas for different age groups. There will be a gym for the older kids and an area packed with Lego and other educational toys especially for the younger ones.
NCVO Chief Executive Officer Janice Wilson commented, ‘The Nadine Andreas Residential Home is heavily dependent upon funding from the public. We receive a government grant that contributes towards costs of running the home but the NCVO has to find an additional CI$60,000 per year for operational expenses.
‘Companies such as Digicel who donate funds and give support to our home are essential in order for us to keep the foster home operational.’
