Specialist police officers are once again set to join Cayman’s fight against crime early in the New Year.
The 10 specialist Matrix Team officers from Merseyside Police in the UK were due to leave for home on Christmas Eve.
The expert team – according to RCIP Deputy Commissioner Anthony Ennis – had proved to be invaluable to the police in their time here.
So much so, that Commissioner Stuart Kernohan set about trying to enlist further help from them when he recently travelled to the UK.
Now, Mr. Ennis told the CaymanianCompass, the Commissioner had apparently been successful in obtaining an agreement to extend the arrangements with the Matrix officers.
Some of them would be returning for another stint in January. Those who could not return would be replaced by other officers, said Mr. Ennis.
‘We are very pleased about it,’ said Mr. Ennis.
‘They have been doing some excellent, invaluable work, training and helping to build our systems and processes,’ he said.
