This year’s IRG Junior Rugby Festival will be held at the Cayman Rugby Club in South Sound, on January 15th, 2005 to coincide with the reopening of the CRFU’s newly renovated Clubhouse. The event will be attended by dignatories including the Minister for Sport and His Excellency the Governor.
Having only begun in 2002, the event has grown into one of Cayman’s biggest sporting events with approximately 240 participants, and 2-4 teams per age group from U4 to U18 categories. The key success of the Junior Rugby Festival is accredited to the commitment of the event sponsor, IRG Real Estate Ltd. Cayman affiliate of Knight Frank, the international property group.
‘IRG supports the community in general and recognizes the value of sport in the development of positive character traits in our youth,’ said Jeremy Hurst, President & Owner of IRG. ‘In particular the benefits that a team sport such as Rugby can offer are of key importance. It’s particularly significant that the sport has been embraced by both local and expatriate players and is one of the most widely played sports worldwide.’
In addition to IRG’s sponsorship, the junior rugby programme has thrived in light of the exceptional talent of its players and coaches. The progressive expansion of the pogramme is also attributed to the dedication of the Cayman Rugby Football Union.
The Junior Rugby Club programme is reliant on sponsors, and the club would like to express gratitude to IRG for their third consecutive year of funding for the Junior Rugby Festival and continued support for the programme throughout the year.
