Fire Services supports Nicholas Powery family

The Cayman Islands Fire Services recently gave a donation for Nicholas Powery, who was scheduled to have a kidney transplant last Friday at St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston.

Nicholas, who was diagnosed with end-stage kidney (renal) failure in September 2005, had pre-operative appointments in Texas earlier in that week.

Leading Fireman Mackenzie Robinson presented the donation on behalf of the Fire Services. He encouraged other government departments to also support Nicholas; his mother, Senior Assistant Chief Immigration Officer Dolcy Powery; and the family.

Immigration was the first government department to support the Powery family, with a donation presented earlier this month.

Nicholas’ sister Bethany Powery, who accepted the Fire Services’ donation, expressed the family’s gratitude for the support.
