Calendar boosts community projects

At a recent meeting of the Rotary Club of Grand Cayman, David and Melissa Wolfe presented the club with US$13,000. The donation represents proceeds from the corporate pre-sales of the 2006 calendar.

‘Thanks to our corporate supporters, we are able to once more donate funds to community-based initiatives, said Project Manager, Melissa Wolfe.

‘Much deserved recognition goes to Deutsche Bank, Conyers, Dill & Pearman, JEC, Cayman Kai Developments, Bank Austria, Royal Bank of Canada, CITN, Solomon Harris, Paget-Brown Trust Company Ltd., Hurlstone Ltd., Dart Realty, Scotiabank, PricewaterhouseCoopers, WestTel Ltd., and the Water Authority.’

In addition to the Rotary Club donation, more than 1,300 calendars, with a retail value in excess of US$16,000, were given to the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism.

‘We are pleased that the DoT will be using the 2006 calendar to promote the Cayman Islands internationally,’ said Mrs. Wolfe. ‘The calendar is a suitable promotional piece since it showcases the beauty of all three islands, underwater and various districts.’

David Wolfe has been involved with producing an annual calendar for more than 10 years. In the wake of Hurricane Ivan, he collaborated with his wife, Melissa Wolfe, to produce a calendar that raises money for the community.

Since then, the calendar project has donated more than US$100,000 in cash and donations-in-kind.

‘Purchasing calendars is a great way for companies to receive a quality product with their logo attached, as well as be a part of an initiative that benefits the people of the Cayman Islands,’ said Mrs. Wolfe.

Companies or retail outlets interested in participating in the 2007 edition of the Cayman Islands calendar are encouraged to contact Melissa Wolfe on 916-8335 or at [email protected]. Contribution deadline is 30 June.
