Michael Johnson voted Player of the Month

16 year-old defender/midfielder Michael Johnson of Future SC was unanimously voted CIFA Cayman Airways Player of the Month for November 2006.

In recognition of his outstanding performance Michael was presented with an airline ticket courtesy of Cayman Airways to any of their 12 destinations.

Michael was also recently voted CIFA Gatorade Player of the Week for the week of October 29th to November 04th. He expressed his delight at being named the CIFA Cayman Airways Player of the Month at such young age, although he does not know yet where he is going to travel with his prize ticket.

Michael has been playing with Future SC ever since he started Grade Three, and has scored two goals this season. His Coach, Mr. Roy ‘Hutta’ Ebanks expressed his delight at this recognition and said that ‘Michael is only 16 years old, but he is a very dedicated and disciplined Footballer, and also a straight A student, extremely bright academically. All of this qualities show on the field. He has a tremendous mind for playing the game. He is a player that any coach would dream to have. I feel honored for this nomination and this is a way to show that our Future SC Youth System is proving fruitful, by using a holistic approach to develop youngsters. This will be a very big motivator for him and will inspire other players to emulate Michael’s achievements. I see great things for him in the years to come, not only as an athlete, but also as a person. Right now, he is using his Christmas break to train U15 and U16 girls; you don’t see many people his age doing something like that, and this goes to show the level of discipline and commitment Michael has towards football. I want to thank CIFA for recognizing him as Player of the Month’.

Michael is a Caymanian who is currently in year 12 at John Gray High School, looking forward to take his A Level examinations next year. His hobbies are football, watching TV and reading.

We wish Michael the best for the rest of the season and hope that this award will serve as a motivating factor for him to maintain his excellent performance for the rest of the season.
