Kirk Kurrency to help CIFA build the Cayman Islands National Football Centre

The Cayman Islands Football Association (CIFA) is the newest recipient of the Kirk Kurrency Program, enabling it over the next six months to receive customer donations towards construction of the National Football Centre.

Kirk Kurrency is a customer loyalty program that it has been running since 1988, when the Supermarket relocated to its present site on Eastern Avenue. Customers who shop at Kirk Supermarket Monday through Wednesday every week receive a $2.50 coupon for every $50.00 spent. This voucher can be redeemed at either the supermarket, Kirk’s Home Center or donated to the current recipient of the donation program, CIFA.

The National Football Centre will be a state of the art facility located at Spotts, consisting of three natural turf football pitches, a dormitory accommodating up to 40 individuals, a classroom, a gymnasium, changing rooms, administrative offices and parking spaces.

CIFA’s President, Jeffrey Webb, expressed his gratitude to Kirkconnell Brothers for choosing the Football Association as recipient for the Kirk Kurrency program. ‘We are extremely thankful for being selected as the next charity. This will be a great source of assistance on building the first stages of the Cayman Islands National Football Centre and will allow us to keep working and making a difference in the lives of our youth, and holds well for the future’.

Brigitte Kirkconnell, representative from Kirkconnell Brothers, said that CIFA was chosen as a recipient because of the impact its work is having on the community, especially young people. ‘Our goal is to encourage the community to contribute with the work that the Football Association is doing. We hope to be able to get as many donations as we can from the public to support this project’.

Mr. Renrick Christian, General Manager for Kirk’s Supermarket, pointed out that the focus of this program is on the benefits it will bring to the community, ‘We are proud to offer Kirk Kurrency as a way to enhance and give back to the community’.

CIFA Treasurer Canover Watson said, ‘We are very excited to partner with Kirk’s Supermarket on this project for development of our youth. The Cayman Islands National Football Centre will serve as a home for them and for many generations to come’
