The Office of the Complaints Commissioner has a regular presence on the Sister Islands with monthly visits to Cayman Brac by Analyst Scott Swing.
However, on Friday, 16 March, Complaints Commissioner John Epp also visited to meet members of the Cayman Brac and Little Cayman Immigration Board and to inspect the Department of Environmental Health’s progress at the Brac landfill.
At the CB&LC Immigration Board’s invitation, Mr. Epp and Mr. Swing met with Chairman Sybil Jackson, Deputy Chairman Temple Tatum and members Bernard Tibbetts, Holroy Walton and Franklyn Bodden.
The board was presented with the OCC’s booklet, Good Administration and Your Rights.
‘We had a very productive discussion and Mr. Swing and I were encouraged by the Board’s willingness to participate in this mutual exchange of ideas on processes and procedures for board hearings,’ said Mr. Epp.
The OCC on the Sister Islands is based at Brac House in Cotton Tree Bay. Residents wishing to see the OCC representative on the Brac are encouraged to make an appointment first by calling the main office in Grand Cayman at 943-2220. Arrangements can also be made to see the OCC representative on Little Cayman if necessary.
‘It is vital that every resident of the Cayman Islands has access to the OCC,’ said Mr. Epp. ‘We will continue to ensure that all complaints against government entities on any of these three islands are considered in a fair and independent manner.’
