For a third term, Karie Bergstrom has been elected as President of the Cayman Islands Tourism Association, representing the allied sector of tourism.
Ms Bergstrom was re-elected by the newly elected Board of Directors at the CITA’s AGM which took place last Thursday at the Hyatt Beach Suites. She is Senior Manager, Human Capital Consulting, Deloitte and has over 25 years of experience in the tourism industry in the Cayman Islands.
Along with Ms Bergstrom the Board for 2007/08 consists of: Immediate Past President Rod McDowall of Red Sail Sports; Jo-Anne Brown of Celebrations (Allied); Wakelyn Rivers of Avalon Condominiums (Condo/Villa); Rory Mohammed of Lacovia (Condo/Villa); Dan Szydlowski of the Westin Casuarina Resort (hotels); Jean Cohen of the Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman (hotels); Mike Flowers of Lonestar Bar & Grill (restaurants); Cliff Woods of Tropical Trader Restaurant Group (restaurants); Rollin Jackson of Tropicana Tours (transport); Steve Broadbelt of Ocean Frontiers (Watersports); Ron Kipp of Caribbean Producer Services (Watersports); Nicholas Wilson of Little Cayman Beach Resort (Sister Islands); John Wrightington of Cayman Airways (Transportation).
It was noted that although Nancy Easterbrook had stepped down as a director from the Watersports sector before her second year had started, she could continue as project manager for the USS Kittiwake project.
CITA represents tourism businesses from all sectors including hotel, condos/villas, restaurants and bars, watersports, transportation, attractions and allied members who do business with these tourism businesses. The association represents its members in the areas of industry and government relations, marketing and events, industry development and membership services.
