Three masked men, one of whom was carrying a machete, robbed a 50-year-old woman in George Town’s Industrial Park area late Tuesday night.
The victim called 911 around 10pm Tuesday to report she had been robbed behind the Peggy’s Hideaway Restaurant on Sherwood Dr. near Seymour Rd.
She told officers the three men approached her just after she parked her car at the restaurant. Police said victim tripped and fell trying to flee from the suspects, after which one of the men took some of her jewellery and her cell phone.
The woman was not seriously hurt in the incident.
Police K-9 units searched the area shortly after the robbery but found nothing.
RCIPS investigators said the attack did not appear to be related to any other events in the area recently.
‘We believe this to be an isolated incident,’ said Chief Superintendent Marlon Bodden.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the George Town Criminal Investigations Department at 949-4222.
