No charge over air assault

A Honduran man that caused a Miami bound flight to make an emergency landing in Cayman last week has been returned to Honduras without charge.

American Airlines flight 941 between Honduras and Miami made an emergency landing at Owen Roberts International Airport 9 October after the passenger reportedly attacked another passenger.

Upon landing, the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service arrested the 28-year-old on suspicion of assault and criminal damage.

In a news release Tuesday, the RCIPS said an investigation had found it was not in the interest of the criminal justice system or the public interest to pursue charges against the man.

Immigration Department Officials returned the man to Honduras Monday, it said.
