I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and every reader of this letter and their families and friends a very merry and safe Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year.
I am writing in support of MLA Charles Clifford who is also our elected Minister of Tourism, Environment, Investment and Commerce.
I am doing this as a fellow Caymanian because of my conscience and not because of my association with the PPM, of which I am proud to be a member.
Charles had the courage to speak out publicly against what he and apparently many of us considered to be wrongdoing.
He deserves our respect, if not our thanks and gratitude for taking a stand. He gave up a very senior and prestigious position and successful career to stand up for his principles and there was no guarantee of anything beyond that.
Perhaps, a supreme irony is that Charles is being investigated because he spoke out. Nevertheless, I have faith that old-fashioned Caymanian honesty will be re-affirmed and that truth and justice shall prevail.
