A man was in custody after being arrested under the mental health law and for damaging property and threatening violence.
The arrest followed an emergency call at 5.50pm Tuesday night when Emergency 911 was informed that a concrete block had just been thrown through the windscreen of a car off Fairbanks Road.
Police responded and at 6.10pm and located a 24-year-old male who was wielding a knife and threatening to attack the officers. Efforts to control the individual with pepper spray were initially unsuccessful and the two officers on the scene were forced to call for back up. After a 20-minute standoff, the man was eventually taken into custody.
