The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service arrested more than a dozen people over the past weekend on suspicion of various violations including illegal gambling and drugs offences.
In the early hours of Thursday two men were arrested; one on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and the other for breaching his bail conditions. Investigators are trying to determine whether the men are linked to other offences, including recent George Town burglaries.
Overnight Friday, officers arrested two people for drugs offences. A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of cocaine with intent to supply and consuming a controlled drug. A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of cocaine, possession of ganja and consumption of a controlled drug.
On Friday, George Town neighbourhood police officers, along with immigration officers, arrested four people for being involved in illegal gambling.
Three were arrested for selling lottery tickets, one was arrested for buying lottery tickets and a fifth person was arrested for carrying a restricted weapon.
On Sunday, George Town uniformed officers arrested five people for being involved in illegal gambling. Four were arrested for selling lottery tickets while one was arrested for buying lottery tickets.
