Two men involved in a car crash early Saturday have been airlifted to Jamaica for treatment.
The two men, who are in their 20’s, were traveling in a grey Honda civic which crashed on Eastern Avenue at around 1.50am on Saturday.
The 911 Emergency Communications centre received a call from a member of the public reporting that a car had crashed into a Caribbean Utilities Company power pole. Police and medics responded to the crash scene and fire crews cut the men free from the vehicle.
Neither of the men was wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash and witnesses have told police the car may have been speeding. One of the crash victims was listed in critical condition. Physicians were concerned the other man may be suffering from paralysis.
Officers from the Traffic Management Unit are currently investigating the crash and would like to hear from anyone who saw the crash or the vehicle prior to the crash. Anyone who can help should contact Chief Inspector Courtney Myles on 946-6254 or 926-0649.
