The Royal Cayman Islands Police Marine Unit has ordered the Sand Bar in the North Sound closed to all craft until further notice due to rough sea conditions.
RCIPS craft are patrolling the area and performing checks on weather conditions. Officials said they would notify commercial boaters and the public when things improve.
Rough seas are forecast for the next several days around Grand Cayman, but its unknown how long the Sand Bar closure might have to remain in effect.
Any boaters who are travelling in the Sand Bar area during the closure are advised by police they are subject to fines.
