Ricardo Roach is developing into one of Cayman’s finest cricketers and his latest performance for Lime Schools against Police was an arresting display.
The 50-over game at the Smith Road Oval on Sunday was the best of the weekend.
Police were 167 all out from 44.2 overs thanks principally to big hits by captain Pearson Best (41) and Dave Cumberbatch 34. All four of Best’s boundaries were sixes. Cumberbatch is his compatriot Bajan and fellow police officer. He hit four fours in his innings.
Police got off to a solid start with Kirkpatrick Clarke, Garth Bryan, Kerneil Coley and Aboli Hoilette all getting into double figures.
Gregory Smith took 4-37 for Lime Schools and Roach got 3-30.
Schools opener Ramon Sealy hit 25, Darren Cato got 22 and captain Omar Willis 17. But it was a blistering display by Roach who scored 48 not out that saw Schools home on 168-8 after 43.2 overs. Marlon Bryan was his partner at the end.
