Prison set for Greenies

Local cricket lovers had better mark the date: June 14!

Jimmy Powell Oval is set for the big showdown. It’s a two team race for the coveted Clico Cayman Division 1 title this season. Prison and Greenies are going neck and neck.

Last weekend Prison led by another outstanding all round performance from Saheed Mohamed defeated By Rite and eased slightly in front.

By Rite began well with Kenute Tulloch and Conroy Wright providing a controlled opening.

At one stage Prison was 5 wickets down with only 126 runs on the board. Mohamed brought his ‘A’ game and produced another scintillating inning with 8 fours and one big hit over the boundary. It was his hard running building small partnerships with the lower order batsmen which turn the match Prison way.

Keniel Irving and Kenute Tulloch restored some order to By Rite batting but they fell short giving Prison a deserving victory. Bowling for Prison Mohamed picked 3 wickets.

Another half century from Kirkpatrick Clarke and useful contributions from Pearson Best and Alessandro Morris took Police to 232 and success against Paramount who could only muster 190 runs. Bowling for Police Kerniel Coley took 5 wickets.

In the Clico Cayman Division 2 ESSO Cubs takes complete command of the division with a convincing victory against Pro Plus.

Bowling with pace and hostility Kervin Ebanks took 4 wickets as Pro Plus was limited to 118 runs. It was easy pickings for Ramon Sealy 52 and Omar Willis 22n.o taking ESSO Cubs to a 5 wickets win.

At the Jimmy Powell Oval Lions scored a close 2 wickets victory against Wellys/Cayman Doors as Lions were provided with 47 extras.

In the British American Insurance Women’s League Stingrays victory against Greenies has given them the lead in the battle of the princesses. Batting first Stingrays scored 120 runs for 5 wickets. Tight bowling from the Stingrays limited Greenies to 89 runs for 5 wickets.
