PSV Eindhoven are one of the most successful club sides in European history, having won the Dutch league seven times in the past decade, and have produced a string of world-class players from their renowned youth programmes.

It boasts a list of former greats that includes Ruud Gullit, Jaap Stam, Ronaldo, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Romario who was here last year for Lee Ramoon’s testimonial.

PSV have one of the most storied histories in world football. The latest generation of players has benefitted from the expertise of Guus Hiddink, head coach first between 1987-90 and again between 2002-06. Hiddink laid a solid foundation for the future, putting strong emphasis on teamwork and European mentality which personifies Dutch football.

It is this kind of mentality that CIFA is hoping to expose its young players to at a five-day youth camp between 10-14 August.

Open to players aged 8-16, the camp will offer the opportunity to work with four of PSV’s best coaches and the chance to compete for a trial at the Dutch club – if they can make the grade.

The camp will run from 9am-12pm for children aged between 8-12 and from 1-4pm for teenagers aged 13-16. The course will be at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex, and included in the $150 registration fee are free balls and kits for all participants.

The camp has been organised by The Academy Sports Club Technical Director Winston Chung-Fah in collaboration with the football association as a part of the Academy George Town After-School Programme.

CIFA President Jeffrey Webb is excited with the prospect of hosting such well-respected coaches.

‘Any opportunity to expose our young players to this calibre of coaching is one that has to be jumped at,’ Webb said.

‘I am particularly grateful to coach Winston Chung-Fah who has been instrumental in making it happen through his close personal relationship with Roy Wilhelm at PSV, and who will be acting as course coordinator here.

‘It is a tremendous opportunity for these players to experience professional coaching from one of the top teams in European football and I am sure the course will be a huge success.’

  • Registration forms for the camp can be collected from the CIFA Office, or contact Alastair Kay at [email protected] or on 949-5775.
