Organisers of the Cayman Islands Marathon are reminding runners that the deadline to get the cheapest registration rate is fast approaching. Everyone should commit now for the long run on 6 December.
The registration fee for the Marathon is now CI$60 (US$75) while the Half Marathon fee is CI$40 (US$50) and registration for the Four-person Relay is CI$128 (US$160).
These rates will increase on next Tuesday by CI$8, CI$4 and CI$6 respectively and will continue to increase until race day on Sunday 6 December.
‘The new registration fees after 1 September will still be economical but registering now will save full marathoners US$10 and half marathoners and relay teams US$5,’ explained Race Director Rhonda Kelly.
Kelly said that not only could runners take advantage of the lower rates by registering early but it would also solidify their commitment to the race.
‘Once you have registered you are more inclined to actually participate because you have committed financially,’ said Kelly. ‘It also motivates you to get out there and start training. Some local runners tend to register at the last minute but we hope that these great early registration fees will be an incentive to sign on today!’
Kelly also took the opportunity to remind the public of the race’s new runner loyalty programme. Basically individual runners who have participated in the Marathon or Half Marathon for three consecutive years are eligible to receive the earliest of the early bird discounts no matter when they register.
Those rates – CI$60 for the full marathon and CI$40 for the half – can be taken advantage of up until the day before the race.
The programme discounts are currently available online at www.CaymanIslandsMarathon.com but after the registration fees increase next Tuesday, eligible runners will need to register at the Kelly Holding office or mail in a registration form with their fee.
