Work on schools to restart

The first
stage of the government’s strategy for completing construction at the new John
Gray and Clifton Hunter High Schools will begin today (Tuesday), according to
the Cayman Islands Education Ministry.

A ministry
press release stated the initial activity will see work re-start at both sites.
The work will concentrate on roofing installations, exterior wall systems and
mechanical and electrical, particularly where work already performed in these
trades requires prompt attention to prevent deterioration.

“These
works are necessary to preserve warranties and are critical with respect to
mitigating costs going forward,” Education Minister Rolston Anglin said.

These urgent
works will be supervised by the ministry’s project management team.

In addition,
the project team will also shortly advertise a tender for construction management
services, the ministry said.

Once appointed,
the construction manager will assume responsibility for day-to-day construction
activities at both sites.
