Small business project offers telecom solutions

A budget-friendly telecommunications
package from mobile provider Digicel is offering some affordable options for small
businesses in the Cayman Islands.

Effective 15 January 2010,
small-to-medium enterprises registered with the Cayman Islands Investment
Bureau can take advantage of Digicel offers that include benefits such as free
calls within closed-user-groups, free internet, free mobile handset, free
installation of fixed lines, 50% discount off Blackberry smartphones and mobile
phone calling plans. 

SMEs vary in size and nature
ranging from 2-20 employees, and incorporate sole traders, partnerships or
companies, for example, community ‘Mom & Pop’ grocery outlets to small
construction companies. 

The Cayman Islands Investment
Bureau is a government agency responsible for supporting and facilitating
economic development in through services that include general consultation,
business plan advice, training, investment support and resource coordination
for businesses.

Bureau remains committed to providing assistance to small business owners and entrepreneurs,
and in planning for 2010, we decided to partner with Digicel in one such
effort,” said Executive Director of the Cayman Islands Investment Bureau Dax

“Through this initiative, CIIB
clients are able to access first rate business telecommunications packages at
introductory value rates that will translate into tangible cost savings. We are
very pleased with the planned programme and applaud Digicel for putting it
together for us.”

The requirements of the
Digicel-CIIB joint package include a Trade and Business License, business details
(address, structure, size etc.), the list of people who are included on the
closed-user-group and completion of two advisory sessions with the CIIB.
