Sailor mugging suspect nabbed

Police arrest a 28-year-old man for attacking US Coast Guard sailor.

A man was arrested Friday in connection
with an attempted robbery which occurred in George Town in the early hours of
Tuesday, 9 March.

According to the Royal Cayman
Islands Police Service, the suspect allegedly punched a 21-year-old American
sailor from the US Coast Guard in the face on North Church Street at around
2.10am Tuesday. Police said the suspect demanded cash following the assault.

Police said the suspect fled the
scene empty-handed. He was last seen driving off in a Jeep Cherokee.

The victim sustained head injuries
and was hospitalised overnight.

On Friday, RCIPS officers arrested
a 28-year-old man in the Bodden
Town area on suspicion of
attempted robbery. He was in police custody but charges had not been filed at
press time.
