of the Pines retirement home benefitted from the largesse of civil servants
recently. The Ministry of Health, Environment, Youth, Sports and Culture held
dress down days and used the monies collected to buy the home a digital camera.
The Pines Manager, Sue Nicholson, thanked Minister Mark Scotland as he handed
over the gift. “Just because our residents are old, does not mean they don’t
like to go places, and this will help to capture the many memories,” she said.
Deputy Chief Officer Stran Bodden and Human Resource Assistant Carla Martin accompanied
the minister on his visit. The Pines is a non-profit charitable organisation
and currently has 32 full-time residences in long-term care. The care facility
also offers a comprehensive day care programme.
