Royal Cayman Islands Police
arrested a man on suspicion of drunk driving after a midnight accident in East
End on Thursday.
Officers said the crash occurred
about 15 minutes after midnight when a Honda Accord went off Sea View Road
heading westbound and slammed into a concrete utility pole on the side of the
road.
Police said it appeared that the
driver lost control while negotiating a left-hand curve in the road near the
blowholes.
The driver, a 26-year-old man, was
taken to the Cayman Islands hospital with hip injuries and was receiving
treatment at press time. The injuries were not considered to be
life-threatening.
In addition to the DUI arrest,
police said the man was arrested for driving while disqualified.
