Burglars use truck to break in

Royal Cayman Islands Police have
arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with an early morning ‘ram-raid’ at a
George Town convenience store.

Police said a white truck was
apparently driven through the front door of Solomon’s Grocery on Mary Street,
George Town around 4.20am Sunday.

Officers said two men jumped from
the truck and grabbed the cash register inside the store. They then ran off toward
the nearby Rock Hole neighbourhood.

No one was inside the store during
the pre-dawn hours. The front of the vehicle knocked back the door and the
burglar bars, took out part of a wall, and also knocked over a few of the store

Police immediately conducted a
search in the area and arrested the man on suspicion of burglary. He was in
police custody at press time. A second man involved in the incident had not
been located.

The suspects were described as
having white T-shirts covering their faces and wearing black clothing.

Detective Constable Colin Pryce is
appealing for anyone who may have any information about the crime to contact
George Town CID on 949-4222 or the confidential Crime Stoppers number

The store was open Monday morning
and owners had placed a thick plywood over hole made by the truck. Patrons were
allowed to enter through the back of the store.
