Celebrated Dutch coach Roy Wilhelm
and his team from PSV Eindhoven arrive on the Cayman Islands this Sunday to
conduct another football youth training camp from 9-14 August at the Truman
Bodden Sports Complex.
Wilhelm, whose country earned
second place in the recent World Cup finals, was invited here by the Cayman
Islands Football Association for the second time to demonstrate his expertise
in coaching youngsters.
The camp will run daily between
8:30am and 12:30pm daily. Wilhelm is bringing additional coaches with him this
time, which will enable him to conduct two age groups at the same time, to
avoid pushing players to perform in the heat of the day. The camp will be open
for all boys and girls, aged 6-18. A specialist goalkeeping coach will also be
in the group.
His return to the Island is also as
a result of the excellent response and the positive impact on the development
of youth football generated from his other visits.
PSV Eindhoven is one of the most
successful clubs in European history, having won the Dutch league seven times.
The club has produced a string of great players from their world-respected
youth programmes such as Ruud Gullit, Jaap Stam and Ruud van Nistelrooy. Brazilian
strikers Romario and Ronaldo also played for PSV in their early careers. PSV
Club has carved an historical niche in world football, demonstrated teamwork
and European mentality which is a trademark of Dutch football.
The registration fee remains at
$150 and includes a kit, a ball and refreshments, as well as access to some of
the best youth coaches in the Dutch system.
