Letters to the Editor: Cabinet should not grant status

The Legislative Cabinet should not
have the power to grant status to anyone. Only in special circumstances where
there may be justifiable need for an appeal to the LA after all efforts have
been exhausted.

The Immigration Board should have
control over status grants or even the Governor’s office. I think the Deputy
Governor should be in charge of Status Grants. Politicians should never be
allowed to make decisions on the grant of status.

Due process is necessary and due
process is not possible if the Cabinet is involved.

Decisions on immigration matters
are, or should be, decided in immigration court hearings with a judge
experienced in immigration matters.

Until we put our priorities in
place we will continue to have these problems haunting our society.

It’s not too late to correct these
mistakes and make the necessary changes.
