Sponsors clamour for big run

The Cayman Islands Marathon
continues to prove its value to the Cayman community, not only with runners but
many companies who have seen the benefits of the event to both themselves and
the island, and have signed on to sponsor the race this year.

Five new sponsors have joined the
Marathon family and the organisers could not be more pleased. “We are excited
to welcome Milo as supporter for the Kids Fun Run, Digital de Sign and NCI
Services as official suppliers and Scotiabank and Appleby as our newest mile
sponsors,” said race director Rhonda Kelly. “We are not under any illusion that
we could do this event without our sponsors, and it just humbles us each year
when companies sign back on to continue their sponsorship, and it encourages us
when new supporters recognise the positive impact of this event and the value
that they will receive as a sponsor. A huge thank you to all of our sponsors,
both new and existing!”

“Appleby is pleased to extend its
support to the Cayman Islands Marathon,” said Simon Raftopoulos, Appleby partner
and Cayman Islands Marathon runner. “The event’s reputation of being
well-organised and fun has certainly contributed to its continued success and international
recognition since its inception. We are confident that this year’s event will
be another wonderful experience for local and visiting runners, volunteers and
race supporters. We wish both the organisers and runners every success.”

“Not only do the sponsors enhance
the race through their financial contributions but also through their well
known brands,” said Kelly.  “Flowers Bottled
Water has been with us from the beginning and everyone knows how important
water is to an event like this. Gatorade provides the assurance not only to our
local runners but to visitors that they are getting a sport drink that they
know and trust.  Tag Heuer makes winning
the Full Marathon truly worth it with the high quality timepieces given to the
winners. We are so grateful to all our sponsors.”

Kelly also made special mention of
the race’s biggest sponsor, the Department of Tourism. “DOT has really made the
race possible with their support. We have a great partnership with them that we
believe is mutually beneficial. Last year the race brought more than 400
tourists to the island and that number will definitely be higher this year.
These are people coming to the island specifically to take part in the race.
That speaks volumes for our country and this event.”

The Cayman Islands Marathon is also
sponsored by the Ministry of Health, Environment, Youth, Sports & Culture,
Digicel, Cayman National, Cayman First, Breezes By the Bay Restaurant, Dolphin
Discovery, CayCompass.com, Kirk Freeport, 106.1 KISS FM, Grand Cayman Marriott
Beach Resort, RVC Rehab Services/BioFreeze, Arch Automotive, Quaker, CUC, KPMG,
GNC, RE/MAX Cayman Islands and The Final Touch.
