Elite stays on top before Christmas

Elite SC reigns in the 2010-2011 Cayman Islands Football Association Premier League competition, topping the league table with 26 points as the season takes a break for the Christmas holidays.

The club was in action recently, producing a 2-2 draw with defending champions Scholars International, who are in second position with 17 points. Oshane Facey and Michael Brown netted in the 82nd and 90th minute respectively for Scholars International after Dwayne Messam and Alex Belcher scored in the 4th and 17th minute for Elite.

Roma United, although still holding on to third place with 15 points lost to Bodden Town 1-0. Arvid Harris netted the lone goal to secure the three points for Bodden Town. Bodden Town has 13 points.

Tigers are in fourth place with 13 points as well but with a better goal average than Bodden Town. They outplayed bottom of the table team East End 4-2 at the Annex. Nahun Rodriquez netted thrice for Tigers in the 23rd, 45th and 76th minute while his team-mate Roger Espinal scored in the 86th. Marvin Grant and Cardiel Hydes scored for East End in the 54th and 64th minute.

At this same venue, George Town battled with Future to share the points with a 1-1 score line. Paul Brown scored first in the 41st minute for Future and Tex Whitelocke drew level for George Town in the 85th minute. George Town is in sixth place with 12 points while Future is last with eight points.

Games are scheduled to resume on Sunday, 9 January, when Elite SC meets Future SC at the TE McField Sports Centre at 5pm and Roma face George Town at 7pm at the same venue. At the Ed Bush Stadium Bodden Town encounters Tigers at 5pm and at 7pm East End comes face to face with defending champions Scholars International.
