Police made quick arrests over the weekend in connection with two armed robberies that occurred over the weekend.
One man, an 18-year-old, was taken into custody Saturday night after a robbery at the Plum Tree grocery store in the Northward area Friday night.
Investigating officers said the arrest was made in the same neighbourhood as the robbery on Friday. A store clerk in the robbery at Plum Tree suffered head and hand injuries in the heist and had to be hospitalised. He was expected to recover.
Two other men were arrested Saturday night; this time in connection with the hold up of a money transfer business at Elizabethan Square, Shedden Road.
Royal Cayman Islands Police officers said one man robbed the Reggae Money Express store around 6.30pm Saturday and got away with some cash. Two men, aged 19 and 21, were later arrested following a police operation in George Town.
None of the three men arrested in the robbery cases had been charged at press time.
The robbery arrests involved two of five heists that occurred at Grand Cayman businesses between Monday, 10 January and last Saturday. No arrests had been reported in the other cases at press time and police had not said whether they believed any of the incidents were connected.
