Police: Ungrateful burglar arrested

Royal Cayman Islands Police arrested a 39-year-old man Thursday after a
burglary in West Bay.

Police said just before 8pm, a man stopped by a home in Boatswain Bay Road where he knew the occupant.

The suspect asked
the householder for a small amount of cash, police said. The woman knew the man and left him standing at the door while she went back into the house to get some money.

Officers said the woman returned to the door, gave the man some money and he left.

It was only after he had gone that the woman realised her handbag was missing from the hallway and called
the police.

A short time later, RCIPS officers patrolling the area arrested a man on suspicion of burglary. The woman’s handbag was recovered.

“Would-be
thieves are on the lookout for open windows, open doors and opportunities where
they can quickly get in and out with property,” said Inspector Brad Ebanks. “Secure your property in a safe place at all times.”
