WB diver pronounced dead

A
woman died Tuesday after she was rushed to the Cayman Islands hospital from a West Bay
dive location.

Emergency crews on the scene at Lighthouse Point along North West Point Road
said the woman was not responsive when she was transported just after 11.30am
Tuesday.

The
woman was not identified immediately. Hospital officials said she was 52 years
old.

According
to Royal Cayman Islands Police, officers were informed that the
woman had lost consciousness while diving off Lighthouse Point, West Bay.

The
woman was diving with her husband when she was spotted floating on top of the
water, police said.

Her
husband immediately called for assistance and staff from the resident dive
company, Dive Tech, helped bring her to shore.

The
dive company staff administered CPR until the arrival of the emergency
services.

The
man and woman were on vacation in the Cayman Islands from Florida,
USA.

The incident is the third watersports-related death to occur in the Cayman Islands this year.
