The National Trust for the Cayman Islands announced its 2011 Earth Week Logo and T-shirt Design competition winner recently.
Chyna Powery, 17, a year 12 student at the Cayman Islands Further Education Centre, submitted the winning design, which will be used to help promote Earth Week throughout the Cayman Islands.
“Ms Powery’s design captured this year’s international Earth Month theme ‘A Billion Acts of Green’ perfectly.
It is no surprise that her artwork won,” said Erica Daniel, education programmes coordinator with the Trust.
The winner was chosen by visitors to the Trust’s website who registered their vote for their favourite logo from among the 15 finalists.
Logos were submitted by students between the ages of 15 and 17 from schools Island wide.
“Ms Powery’s logo will be used for Earth Month collateral Island-wide and the National Trust’s 5K Fun Run T-shirts,” said Ms Daniel.
Earth Day is celebrated globally on 22 April.
