The Sharks recently took a stranglehold on first place in local ball hockey.
Last Thursday the squad beat the second place Pirates in dominant fashion, winning 6-1. With the victory team captain Scott Gossen and company move ahead by four points with three games remaining in the 2011 Cayman Islands Ball Hockey League.
Gossen and Ashish Khulbe continued their internal scoring battle in the regular season. Gossen would net a pair to follow-up nicely to his four-goal performance last week while Ashish followed up his hat trick with another goal off a quick face-off draw.
Brad Kirby would also put two goals away top corner, while Kevin Hunter added the exclamation mark to the win by scoring one late in the third period.
The Pirates’ lone goal would be scored by Jan-Michael Maw as he blasted one past Lunt from the blue-line.
After the game, Sharks player Ray Durand commented, “There was nothing to say at the period break. We played a perfect game. The chemistry and team efforts we have right now makes us the clear favourites to take home the Cup.”
The next pair of games take place Thursday, 12 May. The Logic arena of Kings Sports Centre hosts a double-header from 8pm.
