Greenies Too far in front to catch

With one Division Two match outstanding Greenies Too have an unreachable lead on the other teams after a comprehensive victory against Welly’s over the weekend.

Riding on a massive high following a huge success on Cayman Brac, Greenies Too won the toss and took the first strike. Good opening spells from the Welly’s batsmen Jairam, Cousins and Nathan had Greenies Too feeling the strain of the Brac party but lower order resistance came from Thomas and Bigwood. Welly’s added to their downfall by conceding 35 extras giving Greenies Too a total of 197.

It was no stopping the green brigade (except for rain) as Welly’s were rolled over for 105 runs. Three wicket hauls came from Glyde, Bigwood and McGrath and victory by 85 runs using the D/L system.

UCCI/West Bay made it an early evening by limiting Paramount to 182 for 6 and knocking of the runs for loss of 3 wickets with main scorers Garfield Edwards 81n.o and Perry George 37.

In the women’s league, Greenies Women have set up a grand finale after a strategic victory over Motown. Motown made 86 and Greenies Women cruised home for the loss of only 3 wickets. The league is set up nicely as the deciding match is this weekend between defending champions Island Heritage Stingrays and Motown at Smith Road Oval.

In Division One T/20, with three wins in as many matches, Police has step the benchmark as the team to beat in this year’s competitions. Greenies 1 had good contributions from new captain Chris Palmer and Andrew Ledger in scoring 145 for 9 but Police Garth Bryan hit a masterly 60n.o. Police won by 6 wickets. Prison bounced back from two defeats to beat ESSO Tigers by 7 wickets.
