Scranton Park holds
improvement fun day

Central Scranton community enjoys Family Fun Day

A Family Fun Day recently held at Scranton Park was well-attended and enjoyed by many.

The event was to bring people together to celebrate the spirit of community and to highlight recent enhancements made to the park through the generosity of Dart.

More than 150 residents gathered at the park to enjoy entertaining activities, food, arts and crafts and traditional games compliments of Dart Cayman Islands, George Town MLA Ellio Solomon and Central Scranton community members.

The park enhancements are part of the Growing Communities initiative – a partnership between public and private sectors to enhance the parks throughout the Cayman Islands.

The improvements made to Central Scranton Park include the installation of new bleachers, a new barbecue, basketball net and backboard, resurfacing of the basketball court, the restoration of storage facilities and fresh paint on existing structures, reads a news release.

Members of Camana Bay Nursery team were onsite handing seedlings to each child with the hopes of continuing the spirit of growing.

Dale Ramoon, President of the Community Association, publicly thanked Mr. Solomon and Ms. Lynn Smith-Moore of the Dart Group, and received a plaque for the park.

“The event was a huge success, the turnout was excellent and the people clearly had a great time,” he said.
