Ray still leads slammers

Local dominoes has a new board in place.

The Cayman Islands Domino Association recently held elections for various positions. Ray McLaughlin was voted back in as president with Treva McIntosh being named vice president.

Most of the other spots were filled by familiar faces. Oleta Elliott returned as secretary, with Sheena Taylor now being assistant secretary. Dareen Ebanks is back as treasurer while Vanessa Forrester is now the assistant treasurer. Kendal Connor is the fundraising committee chairman while Derrick Elliott Senior is the public relations chairman.

The 2011-2012 league is expected to start in roughly a month on 11 September. A number of prizes (including cash) are in the works for the new season.

News of the elections comes after the end of the 2010-2011 season. Eight teams took part in the competition with the East End All Stars coming out victorious with an unbeaten record. Team Archies finished tied for second with Island All Stars. Fourth place would go to DLK (formerly Buttonwood) with Kelly’s out of West Bay ending fifth. Team Helium/Temperature placed sixth, Singh’s Roti Shop came seventh and Meringue Town finished eighth.

The 2011 league started late last year and wrapped up at the end of May.
