Triple Crown burn off Devils

The top three of the Heineken Sunday League all picked up important victories last weekend.

Setting the pace at the top are Triple Crown Wanderers who fought to a slender 4-3 win against a dogged MC Devils side at Ed Bush field. MC Devils are bottom but they took the lead after 13 minutes through Dylan Hume. Emmanuel Brown equalised before Hume struck again in the second half. Frode Pierson then struck twice for Wanderers and Joy Gonsalves made it 4-2. The final few minutes of the match were made tense when Devils were awarded a penalty after a handball offence which James Plowright dispatched expertly.

Harry’s FC kept second place in the table after a comfortable 3-0 victory against a struggling CML Claymores side at the TE McField Sports Centre. Harry’s have their top scorer Floyd McKenzie to thank, after he hit a brace to take his tally for the season to nine and sees him lead the race for the Golden Boot Trophy.

The game between Agua FC and Prison at Ed Bush was a tight and cagey affair. The only goal came in the 21st minute when Prison’s Ian Campbell put into his own net.

Prison’s chances of pulling themselves back into the game were hampered when Lamar Shakes was given a straight red card for a very bad tackle on his opposite number.
