Sotheby’s are TeleCayman kings

The TeleCayman Team Squash League came to an end on Thursday at the South Sound Squash Club as all teams had one last crack at claiming the number one position.

Final match up was Team NCB Group versus Team Walkers, Team Marsh versus Team Nicol David, Team KPMG versus Team Ramy Ashour and finally Team Island Heritage against the consistent leading team of Team Sotheby’s International Realty.

Due to many Christmas functions beginning to take over people’s schedules a few substitute players were called to bat and unfortunately Team NCB Group who were scheduled to take on Team Walkers were forced to default, therefore Team Walkers won 3-0 without even breaking a sweat.

In the tie between Team Marsh against Team Nicol David the third string player for both sides was unable to make it therefore, the overall tie came down to A and B players. Two competitive junior players were called in for Team Nicol David with Edward Baker, filling in the B position and Julian Jervis in the A position. Baker had a tough match against Mike Bowden for Team Marsh, however experience in Bowden took the match 3-1 (13/11, 9/11, 11/7, 11/4). Jervis followed by taking on Fernando Beckles, who has been familiar to long battles and this time teenager Jervis came out with a 3-1 victory (9/11, 11/5, 11/5, 11/2).

Team KPMG against Team Ramy Ashour posed a full team for Team KPMG, however a walkover for their C player as Team Ramy Ashour was unable to fill this position. Rob Arthur for Team KPMG took on Chantelle Day, Team Ashour and had a strong 3-0 win (12/10, 11/6, 11/6). Final match for the tie was Alistair Cowper a strong contender at the B level for this league played against Craig Morgan and finished with a 3-0 victory (11/7, 11/7, 11/7). Team KPMG won overall against Team Ramy Ashour with a 2-1 win.

In the final match up was the energetic and always ready to go Team Island Heritage took on the leading team of Team Sotheby’s International Realty. A full line-up for both teams, Brian O’Neal for Team Island Heritage went on against Sheena Conolly, Team Sotheby’s International Realty. Although a great match, Conolly took the match 3-1 (11/8, 10/12, 11/5, 11/7). In the B position, Stefan Breitenlechner for Team Sotheby’s International Realty was up against Brandon Smith, Team Island Heritage and with many great rallies Breitenlechner overtook Smith 3-0 (11/8, 11/3, 11/3).

In the final match and for the last round of TeleCayman Team League for 2011, Glenn Stark for Team Sotheby’s International Realty took the court with Brendon Lyons for Team Island Heritage. Once again with some great rallies, Stark was too strong for Lyons and won 3-0 (11/7, 11/8, 11/5).
