Royal Cayman Islands Police have confirmed that a pool of human blood was found Wednesday behind a George Town shopping plaza.

Detectives launched an investigation after receiving a report there appeared to be blood on the sidewalk near Ed’s Plaza on North Sound Way.

Forensic tests were carried out Wednesday, which included RCIPS crime scene techs checking the area with UV lights in the dark that evening. The tests have confirmed that the blood is human.

“It is possible that someone has been injured,” said RCIPS Superintendent Marlon Bodden. “If that is the case, we need to find that individual to make sure that he or she has received medical treatment.”

However, Mr. Bodden noted that police searches of the area and checks with medical practitioners had not turned up any reports of injuries.

Anyone who was in the area of Ed’s Plaza on Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, and has any information which could assist officers as they try to establish what happened, is asked to contact George Town Criminal Investigation Department on 949-4222. If you know of anyone who has sustained a recent unexplained injury then please contact the police. Information can also be passed on the RCIPS tip-line 949-7777 or via Crime Stoppers 800-8477(TIPS).

  1. I agree, I would definitely say it is possible that someone has been injured.

Either someone is dead and a body has been removed to be disposed of, or someone is injured when doing something they shouldn’t have been, either way, there are going to be at least several people that know what happened.

  2. Two things strike me from the photo –

    1. There are what looks like two bicycle tyre tracks or drag marks running through the blood on the lefthand side.

    2. The pool of blood on the righthand side shows that something (possibly a bag or an item of clothing) was on the ground when the person was bleeding and that object has been removed. That pool of blood has a straight-side gap in it and there is apparently something still in that gap.

Come on RCIPS if I can see that you know more than you are admitting.

  3. Got someone else (a former SOCO or if you are from the USA – CSI) to check out the photo.

RCIPS how about – The injured person sat down on that ledge where the smaller blood pool is to recover then went home. There’s no obvious blood trail so no indication of serious injury.

And my earlier drag marks comment – quote, ‘in your dreams’.
