Head out to the East End Heritage Field next to the gas station and opposite the Post Office on Saturday, 26 Febuary.
Why? We hear you ask. Well, it’s where PAWS is going to be from 9am to 11.30am. Washing dogs. Hence the headline, see? Anyway they’re also looking for volunteers so if that’s you, then you know what to do. And here’s where we pause the clause.
Charity dinner
But save this date, and save some dosh, cause the PAWS guys are also organising their first-ever charity fundraiser dinner at Rum Point Restaurant on Saturday, 10 March.
It’s intended to be an annual dealie and is cleverly titled PAWSed in the Sand at Rum Point, which sounds better when you say it out loud we imagine. Anyhoo, cocktails are from 7pm with a buffet style dinner on the beach from 8pm. There’s also going to be a silent and live auction.
“Your financial support,” they tell us, “Will be used to spay and neuter, provide food for animals of families in need, provide financial assistance for veterinary need of injured or abused animals and to educate the communities on how to care for an animal.” Basically, if you don’t go, animals will die. And it’ll be your fault.
Tickets are $100 and there’s a free Red Sail Sports catamaran leaving Safehaven at 6pm and returning at 10pm. Obviously let them know you’re intending to travel by boat otherwise nobody will realise you are expecting a ride and you’ll have to swim.
Seriously though folks this is a great cause so give them applause. And money, obviously.
