As part of the Child Month celebrations, the Department of Child and Family Services is organising an afternoon of fun and games on Monday, 21 May at Pedro St James. This is the first such family fun day.
Parents and children are invited to relax, watch, listen and play on the lawn at Pedro St. James from noon to 4pm. There will be children’s entertainment, including the inimitable Bona Fide, who will be providing live children’s music throughout the afternoon, and youngsters from Miss Jackie’s School of Dance will be showing off their twinkle toes. There will also be story telling courtesy of the Cultural Foundation and traditional games that all are welcome to participate in and a puppet show.
There’s a twofold purpose to the event and it will also be an opportunity for public, private and social sector entities to display and promote the services that they provide for children and families. This expo will offer children, parents and caregivers a chance to find out more about the products on show which promote child development. Parents will be able to participate in educational discussions with the vendors and to learn about services available to children and families in the Cayman Islands.
Entrance to the event is free and food will be provided for the first 300 children to arrive. There will also be some free giveaways from participating businesses and services.
The family fun day is geared toward children of all ages, providing the ideal family outing on the Discovery Day holiday.
