Two graduates from Passport2Success’ third cohort gathered recently at Margaritaville to celebrate their one-year anniversary.
The groups boasts a 65 per cent employment rate, while 30 per cent of the group are attending school to further their education. Of those who are employed, five have been employed with the same employer for the past 12 months. Two are completing the Legal Secretarial Course next month, two are working associate degrees at the University College of the Cayman Islands and on is pursuing an associate degree at the International College of the Cayman Islands. One is attending school overseas.
Those who are employed have been placed with organisations such as LIME, Kirk Freeport, the Cayman Islands Airport Authority, Water Authority-Cayman, Al La Kebab, DECCO and the North Sound Golf Club.
The students received a surprise visit from Education Minister Rolston Anglin, who joined in the celebration.
“This is what you can do when you put your mind to a goal. I am extremely proud and ecstatic at the achievements each and every one of you has made in the past year. Keep working hard, keep moving forward and always strive for better,” he told the youngsters during his address.
Shannon Seymour, programme coordinator at the Wellness Centre, also expressed how this particular group’s achievements continue to make here and the team at the Wellness Centre extremely proud. She told them, “You have so much to be proud of and you have come a long way from the people you were when you first started Passport2Success. We at the Wellness Centre are truly proud of you and continue to wish you all the best as you continue in you journey.”
