Oil spill diverts traffic

Police are asking drivers to avoid the section of road from the junction of Harbour Drive/Shedden Road and Eastern Avenue/North Church Street in George Town due to an oil spill.

Chief Inspector Frank Owens said there was a slick of oil along the road, but police did not know where it had come from.

“Because of the rain and the road being wet, the oil is spreading and we’ve had two or three minor accidents there this morning,” he said.

Motorists are asked to avoid using these roads until further notice.
