Cayman Brac residents will be celebrating the Queen’s Birthday in style this Monday, 18 June with an auction and afternoon tea at Heritage House.
Last year’s inaugural event, a fundraiser for the Cayman Brac National Trust, was a success and organisers decided to do it again. The unique event, which runs from 4 to 6.30pm is a community event, combining afternoon tea, a silent auction, art show and membership drive.
Tea-takers will be able to bid on a variety of services, gifts and trips including Cayman Airways flights to Miami, a weekend stay for two in Little Cayman and brunch at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman. There will also be handmade hammocks, paintings and children’s items. Local artists will display and donate artwork to be auctioned.
The National Trust works to conserve and preserve the endangered species endemic to Cayman Brac, such as the Brac Rock Iguanas and this event will help raise needed funding.
Admission ($5 for members, $7 for nonmembers and $3 for children under 12) includes a typical British “high tea” with sandwiches, soup, mini quiches, desserts and a selection of iced teas.
