Cayman Auto Diagnostic Clinic Stingers are the female softball champions after beating Caledonian Group Services Wildcats twice in the best of three series in the finals.
Wildcats beat CNB Team Xtreme to make it to the finals. The finals first game was 10-0 and second game 2-0. Jessica Pavlik pitched superbly in both matches for Stingers and totally dominated.
Marlon Thomas of the Cayman Islands Softball Association said: “The association would like to thank all our sponsors, fans, media, players and supporters who have backed us throughout the season.”
The female season started in mid-March and this year had three teams instead of four from last year due to lack of sponsorship. Each team was scheduled to play eight games before the playoffs and finals. But a couple of the games were abandoned due to weather and were not rescheduled due to team standings.
Thomas said: “The season went smoothly and without any major injury to players. There was a lot of support from fans which we really appreciate.”
Next is a tournament in Bluefields, Nicaragua from 31 August-4 September for male and female teams with teams from USA, Nicaragua and the Cayman Islands. There are plans to invite teams from Panama to Cayman later in the year.
